Seasonal Water Uptake Patterns of Different Plant Functional Types in the Monsoon Evergreen Broad-Leaved Forest of Southern China

چکیده
The precipitation changes induced by climate warming have substantially increased extreme and seasonal drought events. Different plant functional types (PFTs) could exert an important role in resisting climate. However, the patterns of water uptake different PFTs remain uncertain, especially under magnitudes rainfall Here, we employed a stable hydrogen isotope (δD) to determine sources PFTs, including Castanopsis chinensis canopy layer, Schima superba sublayer, Psychotria asiatica shrub Blechnum orientale on forest floor monsoon evergreen broad-leaved Dinghushan Biosphere Reserve, China. We further used two-end linear mixing model explore utilization among PFTs. Our results revealed that soil before were Furthermore, proportions utilized S. sublayer light moderate rainfalls 6.9%–59.4% 30.5%–66.3%, respectively, which significantly higher than those other species both dry wet seasons. After heavy rainfall, proportion was lowest (4.7%–26.5%), while B. had highest (31.6%–91.5%), whether or season. These findings imply would compete with one another for uptake. Especially warming, uneven distribution intensify competition species, ultimately resulting community structure becoming much more unstable before.

Idiosyncratic responses of evergreen broad-leaved forest constituents in China to the late Quaternary climate changes
Subtropical evergreen broad-leaved forest (EBLF) is one of the most important vegetation types in China. Inferences from palaeo-biome reconstruction (PBR) and phylogeography regarding range shift history of EBLF during the late Quaternary are controversial and should be reconciled. We compared phylogeographic patterns of three EBLF constituents in China, Castanopsis tibetana, Machilus thunbergi...
متن کاملTopographic Variation in Aboveground Biomass in a Subtropical Evergreen Broad-Leaved Forest in China
The subtropical forest biome occupies about 25% of China, with species diversity only next to tropical forests. Despite the recognized importance of subtropical forest in regional carbon storage and cycling, uncertainties remain regarding the carbon storage of subtropical forests, and few studies have quantified within-site variation of biomass, making it difficult to evaluate the role of these...

OBJECTIVE To investigate the effects of short-term forest bathing on human health. METHODS Twenty healthy male university students participated as subjects and were randomly divided into two groups of 10. One group was sent on a two-night trip to a broad-leaved evergreen forest, and the other was sent to a city area. Serum cytokine levels reflecting inflammatory and stress response, indicator...

متن کاملEffect of urbanization on the structure and functional traits of remnant subtropical evergreen broad-leaved forests in South China.
We investigated the effects of major environmental drivers associated with urbanization on species diversity and plant functional traits (PFTs) in the remnant subtropical evergreen broad-leaved forests in Metropolitan Guangzhou (Guangdong, China). Twenty environmental factors including topography, light, and soil properties were used to quantify the effects of urbanization. Vegetation data and ...
